WALK IN THE SPIRIT PT 5

Matthew 6:33 NLT 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Psalm 34:15 NLT 15 The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.

Last time I gave five steps on how to walk in the Spirit daily and experience God’s power. I want to take each step and elaborate more on them. Today I will only day step one, which is to remove what is slowing you down and the distractions that interfere with your walk in the Spirit.

We all deal with distractions especially when we are trying to spend time with the Lord. We have phone calls, social media, children, spouses, meals to fix, work, etc. We need to put a priority on time with the Lord. Maybe get up a little earlier, during nap times with children, in the evening after everyone else is in bed. I know it is hard to find that time but if we put God first, everything else will work out.

A long time ago when my son was in school, the Lord wanted me to get up a little earlier like 6 a.m., before I had to get my son up. I was having trouble doing that. I would set my alarm and turn it off and go back to sleep. My neighbor started having trouble with his car getting it started. He would sit there and rev it up for 10-15 minutes. Of course, it woke me up every morning around 6 a.m. I finally got up because I couldn’t get back to sleep. After I got used to getting up because of this guy revving up his vehicle, he bought a new vehicle but I was used to getting up by then and spending time with the Lord.

God will use our distractions for good, if needed, as in this case. We need to be alert to our distractions. Are they keeping us from spending time with the Lord or is the Spirit using your distraction to help you spend time with Him? Putting God first is our most important priority. God will work it all out for us and help us in time of need.

Father, I want to put You first and spend time with You. Help me to be alert to distractions that come my way and discern whether they are interfering with my time with You or helping me. I love You Lord and praise Your name. In Jesus name Amen.
