WALK IN THE SPIRIT PT 7

1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

Romans 8:5-8 NIV 5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

May 23 blog I gave five steps to walk in the Spirit daily and experience God’s power. The five steps are: 1) Remove what is slowing you down. 2) Invest daily time with the Lord and His word. 3) Train yourself to choose the Spirit instead of your feelings. 4) Strengthen your spirit with prayer. 5) Act on what God is telling you.

I wrote more about the first two in the last two blogs. Today I am going to talk more about the third step. I feel this is really a big one because we are so moved by our feelings and what we see around us. The verse in 1 Corinthians 3:16 says that we are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in us. We need to get a revelation of that because when we realize that the Spirit actually dwells within us, it makes it a little easier to walk in the Spirit rather than in our flesh.

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit, who dwells within you, have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The only way to know what the Spirit desires is to renew our minds to the Word of God. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. If you are not experiencing peace, your mind is not governed by the Spirit. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s Word, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Every time we give in to our flesh, we are not pleasing God. We need to remember that. Hebrews 11:6 says that it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. We must walk in faith, believe that He exists and dwells within us, and that He rewards us when we sincerely seek Him. That sounds so much better than giving into our flesh, experiencing death, being hostile to God, and not pleasing Him.

Get into the Word of God, let the Spirit dominate your thinking and desires, walk in faith, and you will experience great rewards and victory in your life.

Father, thank You for sending Your Spirit to dwell within me. I want to walk in Your Spirit and please You, not walk in my flesh. Give me revelation of Your Word. I walk by faith, believe You dwell in me, and that You reward me as I sincerely seek You. In Jesus name Amen.
