WALK IN THE SPIRIT PT 9

James 1:21-22 AMPC 21 So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].

In the May 23 blog I gave five steps to walk in the Spirit daily and experience God’s power. The five steps are: 1) Remove what is slowing you down. 2) Invest daily time with the Lord and His word. 3) Train yourself to choose the Spirit instead of your feelings. 4) Strengthen your spirit with prayer. 5) Act on what God is telling you.

I’m talking today about #5, which is to act on what God is telling you. James 1:21 says with a humble spirit receive and welcome the word which is implanted and rooted in your hearts. The Word of God is very important for growth and maturity in our Christian walk.

It goes on to say in verse 22 that we need to be doers of the Word and not merely listeners, otherwise we betray ourselves. We may read a verse which seems impossible to do but Holy Spirit is in us to help us. Remember, nothing is impossible with God. We will not have victory in our lives if all we do is read the Word, but not do as it says. That is disobedience to the Lord. We need to be obedient to what the Lord tells us and let Holy Spirit help us walk it out.

Thank You, Father, for sending Holy Spirit to live in me and to help me be obedient to Your Word. You will help me do the impossible and have victory in my life. In Jesus name Amen.
